To use Scarlet’s WS-E10/WSD-E11 safely in your work environment according to OSHA and other explosion protection regulations, you must follow the noted instructions while using the device.

The sensor of the wireless anemometer can be installed in Zone 1/2 hazardous area. However, the receiver (monitor) can only be used in a non-hazardous safe zone. It is recommended to have approved intrinsic safety barriers placed between the hazardous area and non-hazardous area while controlling equipment.

The Scarlet Ex-proof anemometers E10/E11 are certified by ATEX mark following the EN 60079-0:2012 A11: 2013 Essential Health and Safety Requirements.

Wind speed accuracy is +/- 3%. We guarantee every wind speed sensors is calibrated and tested before shipment.

The wireless module used on wind speed sensors only requires very low power consumption. The transmission power consumes 20-30 uA in normal condition and 35 mA peak current in every 2 seconds. The standard 3.6V Lithium battery (2400 mAh) can sustain the sensor for 3 years.

The transmission distance can reach as far as 400 / 1,300 (XB model) meters in open space. With the external antenna, the distance can reach up to 2,000 meters. The actual distance depends on the topology & obstacles. According to user experiences, the vertical transmission distance can be 500 meters in height. Harmonic disturbances are possible in theory, but so far we did not receive complaints about this.

Pairing between sensor & receiver is based on address. The address is labeled on the sensor body. User can set receiver address by setting menus. All WS E10 & WSD E11 were paired and tested before shipping. If the text instruction is still not clear, please visit this YouTube link.

ATEX is an abbreviation for "ATmosphere EXplosible". At the same time, ATEX is the abbreviated name of the European Directive 2014/34/EC concerning the placing on the market of explosion-proof electrical and mechanical equipment, components and protective systems. Intrinsically safe equipment is defined as "equipment and wiring which is incapable of releasing sufficient electrical or thermal energy under normal or abnormal conditions to cause ignition of a specific hazardous atmospheric mixture in its most easily ignited concentration." (ISA-RP12.6) This is achieved by limiting the amount of power available to the electrical equipment in the hazardous area to a level below that which will ignite the gases.

Yes. The warranty period is one year after the date of purchase. During the limited period, any defective product will be replaced or repaired with a comparable product, however, it does not include battery and damages caused by misuse.
